Flying out to Cork on Sunday for a few days and then picking up a car and driving to Dublin for the week with work. Anyone been to Cork?

Looking forward to Dublin as been there many times but Southern Ireland is new to me. Also looking forward to a decent pint of the black stuff :P

IIRC Cork is the second largest city after Dublin
I've been there and spent a day investigating and had a good time there

I would say its the smaller towns that seem more different from the UK
whereas the larger cities could in many ways be anywhere in europe

Looking forward to seeing a bit of Cork and we have the whole day to drive from Cork to Dublin, its only a 3 hour drive so should be nice and scenic.

A whole day to drive 3 hours should be able to stop and see a lot of the place.

Hmm - you might just need a day - it takes 2->3 times as long to get between two points on the map in ireland

I can see the river from the hotel window.

Had a short drive out to the office today, the sat nav we hired from Hertz didnt even recognise the address so good job i bought my one !

Off to Dublin tomorrow.

One thing we have noticed is how expensive it is, 4.5 euros for a pint seems a little extreme to me.... but thats the euro/sterling for you.
